Today I visited Dr. Ku’s office. I was diagnosed with symptoms related to aging of my eyes and also eyes adjusting to a new prescription. Ku also told me I have the beginning of a small cataract and one of my eyes , but at the moment it’s not presenting a problem. I tried to explain , ( I say try because I was interrupted a few times ) , that my eyes felt uncomfortable weeks before new prescription. But he did not listen, so he still does not know . Before I left I asked if perhaps that cataract will not be a problem in a decade or more, he said: “ how should I know? I don’t have a crystal ball”. I have a high sense of sarcasm and responded with sarcastic commentary, It was the best way to exit instead of calling him out . The moral of the story: if you are going to see Ku expecting to be heard , and receive regard and interest from Ku , it’s not going to happen.
The best physician is the one who will listen to patient as if it’s the first time he/she has heard the symptoms and who understands and respects those who put cash in their pocket.
